The Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University

Dalian's second university hospital carries a dual title — Second Affiliated Hospital and Cancer Hospital — which is unusual and useful to know, because a patient searching for either name finds the same institution. It is approved as the Liaoning comprehensive regional medical centre and the Liaoning children's regional medical centre.

Founded on 26 March 1958 and opened to patients on 10 January 1963, it has three campuses and 3,000 authorised beds, with 2025 volumes of 2.79 million outpatient and emergency visits, 133,000 discharges and 48,000 surgeries — a quarter of them the most complex tier. It has held an A+ performance rating in the national tertiary hospital assessment for six consecutive years, first in southern Liaoning.

Its ten national designations include oncology, general surgery, urology, cardiovascular medicine, respiratory medicine, paediatrics, medical imaging and haematology, and it has performed over 5,000 robot-assisted surgeries.

And, as with its sister hospital, no international department. Its official profile lists a Sino-German oncology centre, a Sino-US neuroscience centre with Johns Hopkins, a Sino-Canadian dermatology centre, a Sino-US oculoplastic centre and a Sino-US oncology translational centre with City of Hope — plus a Sino-Korean "international oral base", which is a collaboration and training facility, not a patient-facing service. None of these is an 国际部 and we do not present them as one.

Currency note: the profile we verified is dated February 2026 and is the current revision. It shows a changed designation — the 2020 version described the hospital as the national oncology regional medical centre, the 2026 version says the Liaoning comprehensive regional medical centre and the Liaoning children's regional medical centre.
