Hebei Children's Hospital, also named Hebei Fifth General Hospital, the Hebei Institute of Paediatrics and the Hebei Children's Hospital Internet Hospital, was founded in 1989. Its own Chinese introduction says it is administered by the Hebei Provincial Health Commission and is a Grade III-A comprehensive paediatric hospital combining medical treatment, teaching, research, health care, rehabilitation and emergency care. The hospital covers 48,000 square metres of land with 111,600 square metres of floor space, has 1,800 authorised beds, and receives nearly 1.7 million outpatient and emergency visits a year.

The hospital's own pages name four national key clinical specialties — paediatrics, paediatric surgery, neonatology and respiratory medicine — and six provincial key clinical specialties: paediatric critical care, medical laboratory medicine, neurology, general surgery, haematology-oncology and rehabilitation medicine. They also list six provincial key medical disciplines, eleven provincial medical centres, three national training bases and eleven provincial training bases, and state that the hospital is a member of the national rare-disease collaboration network and among the first national designated children's blood-disease hospitals.

The introduction states that paediatric ECMO, temporary cardiac pacemaker implantation, CAR-T cell therapy, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, haemodialysis for children with renal failure, continuous blood purification, cochlear implantation and corneal transplantation are all in mature clinical use there, and that the hospital was the first in Hebei to launch an international remote consultation service. It also reports long-term cooperation with the Hospital for Sick Children in Canada, Italy's Jesu Bambino hospital, St George's University Hospital in the UK, the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and Ireland's National Children's Hospital.
