Founded in 1897 as a missionary hospital, Shandong Provincial Hospital is the provincial flagship of Shandong and the only medical institution in the province qualified for human organ transplantation. It runs more than 3,500 beds and is also the Shandong Provincial Children's Hospital, which is unusual for a single site and means paediatric and adult care sit within one organisation.
Its International Medical Department has been in operation since November 2021, government-approved, and offers both a dedicated international special-need outpatient clinic and dedicated international wards.
Along with Qilu Hospital it is one of the two hospitals in Jinan we have confirmed to have an international department. We have confirmed more of them in Beijing and Shanghai — worth knowing if a patient was expecting Jinan to be as well served as either.
Before you rely on this: Every service in the international medical department is charged as special-needs (特需) care, so a patient without direct-billing commercial insurance pays out of pocket, and the department's own page states the department's specialists strictly limit their available appointment slots — so a named expert cannot simply be turned up. Endoscopy and bronchoscopy in the special-needs ward are billed at 2-3 times the Shandong provincial medical service price.
