Founded in November 1937 from the relocation of the Beiping University medical school to Xi'an during the war, this is the principal clinical teaching hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University and is reported to have been Shaanxi province's first Grade III-A hospital, historically under direct Ministry of Health administration.
