Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital

Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital's international department is the single most useful thing this site found in a 32-hospital research pass, and the reason is that it carries a Beijing municipal government designation rather than a self-declaration.

The hospital's own department page states, in its own words, that its 国际医疗部 was approved in 2023 as a Beijing international medical pilot medical institution (北京市国际医疗试点医疗机构), and is one of only seventeen institutions in the whole of Beijing holding that qualification. The same page records two further municipal distinctions: the department is a pilot unit for foreign-affairs medical personnel services run by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Talent, and it is a member of the Beijing International Medical Department Quality Control Centre.

That is worth understanding precisely, because "international department" usually means only that a hospital has a desk for foreigners. Beijing's designation is a narrower and more demanding thing: it is a municipal recognition that the pathway has been reviewed.

Two things a patient should know before calling. First, the department publishes no contact details of its own — no direct line, no international e-mail, no opening hours. The official numbers are the hospital's general service line, 010-85231777, and the 24-hour booking line, 010-114, and you have to ask to be routed to 国际医疗部. Second, the department's own descriptive sentence is truncated in the source: it ends mid-sentence behind a "show more" link, so what the department actually covers is not published in a form we could read.

The hospital runs three campuses and the department list does not say which one a department sits at. A large second group is suffixed （西院）, meaning the Shijingshan campus — formerly the China Railway Construction General Hospital, transferred in 2004 — while the un-suffixed names belong to the main campus. This matters more than it sounds: travelling to the wrong campus in Beijing is a half-day problem twice over.
