This is the largest hospital in Fujian province by scale and the province's first public Western hospital, with 4,500 authorised beds across a five-campus system.
Its Binhai campus is the interesting part for an international patient: it operates as the Fujian Hospital of Huashan Hospital, Fudan University (复旦大学附属华山医院福建医院) — a partnership with one of China's most respected hospitals, and the same institution we describe above as having one of the best-documented international medical centres in the country. The same campus hosts Fujian's National Regional Medical Center (国家区域医疗中心), a national-level designation rather than a merely provincial one. It has 1,700 beds and opened on 1 May 2021 after construction began in June 2018.
Designated Grade III-A in 1995, the hospital was founded in 1937 and returned to its current Chating site in 1985 after several relocations.
