Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital is not a Sichuan University hospital and should not be confused with West China. It is directly under the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission, and its own official page records that it was rated among the first batch of national Grade III-A hospitals in 1989 — one of the only entries in the sources we hold where the designation came from a retrieved official page rather than an encyclopaedia.

It is one of only 23 institutions nationwide qualified for whole-organ transplantation, runs 4,500 open beds, and is also the Sichuan Provincial Emergency Centre and a member of the International Emergency Rescue Centre network. In April 2026 it entered the A++ tier of the National Tertiary Public Hospital Performance Assessment, top 1% nationally — the second Sichuan hospital after West China to do so.

It ranks in China's national top 10 for health management and physical examination, clinical pharmacy and general practice, with health management second nationally.
