Hunan Cancer Hospital is a specialist Grade III-A cancer hospital with 2,800 authorised beds, and it holds the distinction that should matter most to an international patient: in 2014 it became the first cancer specialty hospital in China to pass JCI accreditation — 全国首家通过JCI国际标准认证的肿瘤医院. It is also the provincial centre for cancer prevention, treatment and research in Hunan, and it acquired a 1,000-bed second campus in Xiangtan in January 2026.
Two corrections worth making, because both are common online errors. This hospital is routinely mislabelled as "Xiangya Third Hospital" — it is not part of the Xiangya I/II/III general-hospital series, but an independent specialist cancer hospital carrying the *affiliate* title. And its address is often given as 209 Tongzipo Road, which is outdated; the current address is 283.
