Fudan University Institute of Hospital Management (复旦大学医院管理研究所) specialty reputation ranking. Note that Fudan's whole-hospital list assigns letter grades (A++++–A) and explicitly does not order hospitals sharing the same grade.

Fudan states that its ranking's content and data may not be reproduced or cited by any website, media organisation or individual without the institute's written consent. We have not obtained that consent. This site reports individual ranking facts with attribution and a back-link rather than reproducing any table, but whether per-fact citation with attribution falls inside the notice is not settled — we are disclosing the constraint rather than claiming compliance with it.

中山大学附属第一医院 · Guangzhou

Sun Yat-sen University

The hospital's own page says the paediatric surgery department (小儿外科) was built by Professor Lai Bingyao (赖炳耀), one of the first generation of paediatric surgeons in China, in the 1950s, and is among the earliest paediatric surgery departments in the country. It says the department has 33 staff, of whom 13 are doctors, 4 hold full senior titles and 5 associate senior titles, that it runs 47 beds and performs 1,632 inpatient operations a year, and that it assesses and plans treatment for fetal gastrointestinal and urinary tract malformations and tumours before birth. It says the department has become the centre for difficult and rare paediatric surgical disease in Guangdong province.

The hospital's own paediatric surgery page (小儿外科), read on 21 October 2026, said the department runs four groups — paediatric urology, paediatric general and thoracic surgery, paediatric general and neonatal surgery, and paediatric orthopaedics — and that the paediatric digestive endoscopy centre is a joint specialty of paediatric surgery and gastroenterology. It said the paediatric urology group is one of the country's hypospadias treatment centres, with a complication rate below 10 per cent in first-case patients.

The hospital's own page says the paediatric surgery department (小儿外科) was founded in 1973 and is the longest-standing paediatric surgery ward in Guangxi, and that it has been among the top four paediatric surgery specialties by influence in South China for several years since 2015 and in the top three in the last three years. It says the specialty carried out the region's first paediatric laparoscopic surgery in 2003, including single-port umbilical laparoscopy and Da Vinci robot surgery, and that the neural tube defect group gathers more than 90 per cent of the region's cases.

The hospital's own department navigation splits paediatric surgery into four parallel departments in a list — 小儿普外科, 小儿泌尿外科, 小儿心胸外科 and 小儿骨科. The sub-page of each of those four returns only the navigation and a breadcrumb, with no description of the department, so this is what the hospital's own index records.

Ward and room rates

Published daily rates for an inpatient stay, wherever the patient is admitted. In Chinese hospitals the multiplier is ward class, not privacy: a higher-grade ward costs many times more than a general one, while a single room costs only a little more than a shared one.

What a hospital bed costs per day in Beijing
  • General ward bed¥50
    / day
  • Three-bed room¥60
    / day
  • Intensive care unit bed¥60
    / day
  • Single room¥80
    / day
  • ISO-7 cleanroom bed¥300
    / day
  • Special protective ward bed¥1,100
    / day

Published daily rates. The spread across room types is small — a single room costs ¥30 more than a shared one — while the spread across ward classes is 22 times. The multiplier in a Chinese hospital is ward class, not privacy.

General ward bed
Ward rate · Standard public ward
$7/ day¥50
Three-bed room
Ward rate · Standard public ward
A three-bed room costs only ¥20/day more than a general bed, and a single room only ¥30 more. The room-type spread in China is small — it is ward class, not privacy, that drives cost.
$9/ day¥60
Single room
Ward rate · Standard public ward
Paying for a single room in China is a cheap proposition. Paying for a higher-grade ward is not — see the special protective ward figure, which is 22× the general ward.
